Supporting Critical Early Literacy Skills With Narrative Read-at-Home Backpacks and Critical Thinking Skills with Non-Fiction Science DVDs- The backpacks, containing narrative literature with DVDs and non-fiction Elementary Science DVDs, will connect school and home by providing language-rich activities and critical thinking questions based upon the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and Bloom’s Taxonomy.  Students will be able to respond to the text and Science concepts through analysis, synthesis and evaluation.  These skills will continue to be taught by our school staff and supported by parents at home.  These books and DVDs are perfect for shared reading and viewing since their content lends itself naturally to conversation.  Parents will have scripted dialogue to use with students.
