Flying to Fluency- Flying to Fluency is a fluency project designed to assist students with learning disabilities with the development of the skills necessary for them to become fluent readers.  Fluent readers enjoy reading because they can determine the meaning of what they read.  Readers with fluency problems read slowly, word by word.  Instead of focusing on the meaning of what is read, students struggle to figure out how to pronounce words.  This struggle detracts from student’s ability to comprehend.  This project is focused on improving the reading fluency of students with learning disabilities through the purchase of the Read Naturally and PCI Reading programs.  These two programs have been proven through research to be effective with improving reading comprehension and fluency.
