April 10, 2008 The Boys track and field teams competed in the Crowley Malachi relays March 28th, bringing home a 2nd place for the Varsity and the Championship for the J.V. Highlights for the Longhorns were Senior Isaiah Pannell who won 2nd in the Long Jump, increasing his personal best by 8” with a jump of 23’7”. This jump also ranks Isaiah first in the district, 4th in the area, and the top 89% in the Nation. Senior Chris Ogbonna won the pole vault with a personal best of 11’ and Junior Tyler Washington brought home the gold in both the Shot Put and Discus. The Longhorns will be competing in the District Track meet Monday and Tuesday, April 14/15 at U.T.A.
2007 Cedar Hill Graduate Tyron Stewart who is a member of the Texas A & M track and field team, now holds the top triple jump mark on the world junior list as he established a career best of 52-9 ½ (16.09) to finish as the top collegian in the FSU Relays. Stewart added a foot and three inches to his previous PR and bettered the world junior leading mark of 52-3 ¾ (15.94) by Cuba’s Ernesto Reve in February.
Tyler Washington and Ben Allen competed in the Texas Relays April 4th and 5th and both represented Cedar Hill well.
Tyler threw an amazing 58’9” in the Shot Put to win Section B and to break his old school record of 56’2”. This throw also places him in the top 81% in the Nation.
Ben Allen competed in the 2000 Meter Steeple chase and placed 5th in a field of fierce competitors.
