NEWS - March 6, 2008
The Lady Longhorns defeated Lamar won 1-0. The game was very exciting from the kick-off. Both teams had chances to score in the first half, but neither was able to find the net. Halftime score 0-0. Just twenty seven seconds into the second half, Khadajha Evans-Simpkins scored, assisted by Brittany Thornton. The game went back and forth throughout the second half, but ended with the Lady Longhorns on top 1-0. Both teams played an outstanding game. I am very proud of our team for the great intensity and teamwork that they displayed. This game moves us into 2nd place within the district. Overall Record: 12-4-2, District 7-1-2.
The Lady Horn JV Soccer team took on a strong Lamar Vikings soccer team Friday night and unfortunately the Lady Horns came up short. The ladies fought hard but were unable to turn it into a win. Following Mondays canceled game the Lady Horns will continue district play against Arlington Friday @ AHS.

Girls Varsity lost to Martin 2-4. Martin connected on two goals early in the game before Brittany Thornton found the back of the net, assisted by Chelsea Trevino. Keisha Brown also connected on a penalty kick with 17.45 remaining in the half. Half-time the score was 2-3 with Martin on top. The game was very exciting in the second half with both teams having chances to score. The game ended with Martin on top 4-2. Overall Record is 9-4-1, District Record 4-1-1.
CHHS tied Duncanville 2-2. The game was played in the middle of the field with neither team having a whole lot of intensity. With 3.27 left in the first half, Brittany Thornton was fouled in the box. Keisha Brown scored our first goal on a penalty kick. Just six minutes into second half, Duncanville scored to tie the game. Halfway through the second half, Keisha Brown scored a beautiful header off a corner kick from Chelsea Trevino. With 1.00 minute left in the game, Duncanville scored once again to tie the game. The girls played an outstanding game. We are halfway through district and tied with Lamar for second place. Next game will be at Arlington Bowie, Friday night @ 8:00. Overall Record 9-4-2, District Record 4-1-2.
The Lady Longhorn JV Soccer Team rounded out district play this past Friday and Monday taking on Arlington Martin and Duncanville, respectively. The Lady Horns were short a few injuries and it showed in the score line with the Lady Horns losing both games. The JV record now stands at 2-5 in district but will look to find a win against the Bowie Vols Friday night at 6 at Old Longhorn Stadium!

Friday night the Lady Longhorn JV Soccer Team took on Arlington Sam Houston at Wilemon Field. The Lady horns were short a couple players to injuries but were able to still put it together for a 2 – 0 win! With 22 minutes left in the game Clarissa Rosnack took advantage of a bad clearance by the Texan defense and ripped a 30 yard shot into the back of the net to give the Horns a 1-0 lead. Ten minutes later Rosnack found Stephanie Monzingo from a free kick to secure the win for the Lady Horns. The JV district record now stands at 2-2 and will look to make it a winning streak against the Colts of Arlington High School on Monday Night at Old Longhorn Stadium at 7:30.

District Game # 2 CHHS vs. DeSoto won 7-1. We scored in the first three minutes of the game. Scoring our 1st goal was Brittany Thornton, assisted by Paige Duggins. The second goal came five minutes later by Brittany Thornton, assisted by Paige Duggins. The third goal came with about 4 minutes left in the first half by Brittany Thornton, assisted by Emily Bechdol. Just before half-time, Chelsea Trevino found the back of the net assisted by Brittany Thornton. Halftime score 4-1. Just four minutes into the second half, Paige Duggins was taken down in the box, and scores the fourth goal on a penalty kick. Six minutes later, Chelsea Trevino finds the net again, assisted by Emily Bechdol. Late in the game, Khadajha Evans-Simpkins scored our final goal unassisted. Our overall record is 7-3, and district record is 2-0.
District Game # 3 CHHS vs. Lamar tied 1-1. We dominated the first half with Keisha Brown scoring a beautiful goal just before halftime with 2:37 remaining. Shortly after the second half started, Arlington Lamar found the back of the net to tie the game 1-1. The game ended 1-1, the ladies played very hard demonstrating great character and teamwork.
The Lady Longhorn JV Soccer team continued district play last Friday against the Eagles of DeSoto at Old Longhorn Stadium. Thanks to Clarissa Rosnack’s 20 yd free kick goal the Lady Horns defeated the Lady Eagles 1 – 0 and helped earn the team their first district win of the season! The Lady Horns are 1-1 in district and will be facing a very strong Lamar team on Monday at Old Longhorn Stadium!
The Lady Horn JV Soccer team suffered a tough loss to the Lamar Vikings Monday night. Down 2-0 the Lady Horns scored off a corner kick from Clarissa Rosnack to Jodi Solis to bring the game back to 2-1! For much of the game the score remained 2-1 until injuries struck the Lady Horns causing two players sit out with injuries and play down a man for the last 15 minutes. The Vikings then capitalized on a fatigued Longhorn side scoring 4 goals in the final 15 minutes to breakaway with a 6 – 1 victory over the Lady Horns. The JV record now stands at 1-2 in district and will play at Arlington Sam Houston this Friday at 7:30 pm where your Lady Horns look to get back to their winning ways!

The JV Girls’ soccer team competed at the Keller Central Charger Cup this past weekend. They played their hearts out against some of the top teams in the area, finishing 0-3. Most importantly, the team continued to improve and grow together and at times showed that they can hang tough with the best the area has to offer!
The Lady Longhorn JV Soccer team took on the Arlington Bowie Volunteers to open up district play Monday night. Although the Lady Horns came out hard, they were unable to produce enough offense to hang with the Vols falling 2 – 0 and giving the Horns their first district loss of the season.
Last night the Varsity girls soccer team opened district play against Arlington Bowie to get our first district win 5-0. The girls played very well and demonstrated great teamwork. The first goal was scored by Emily Bechdol, assisted by Erin Coggan. The second goal was scored by Christy Barrera, assisted by Keisha Brown. Third goal was scored by Paige Duggins, unassisted. Scoring the fourth goal was Chelsea Trevino, assisted by Emily Bechdol. The final goal was scored by Christy Barrera, unassisted. Overall record is 6-3, district record is 1-0.
